Student Guest Program Scholarships

With the support from The Recycling Foundation, WSRA is proud to make scholarships to our Annual Conference available to undergraduate and graduate students in Washington. These scholarships provide an outstanding opportunity for future leaders in the industry to network with leading industry professionals, expand their knowledge of recycling and waste reduction, and prepare themselves for a career in a rewarding and innovative field.

Program Details: 

Student Guest Scholarships include full registration, entitling students to attend educational sessions, workshops, exhibits, tours of recycling facilities (subject to availability), social events, meals and the WSRA Annual Awards Banquet. Three nights’ lodging in the host hotel will be provided. In addition to attending Conference, scholarship recipients will receive free registration to all 2018 Washington Recycles Every Day (WRED) events organized by WSRA and held around the state.

  • Opportunity to attend over 11 breakout sessions led by experts in the industry

Application Process & Criteria:

This is a competitive application process so we ask that only serious and committed candidates apply. Undergraduate or graduate students age 18 or older who are currently enrolled in college, university, or trade school, or recently graduated (Feb 2017- May 2018) are encouraged to apply. Graduating high school seniors that have been accepted to and/or have committed to a college or university will also be considered but must be over 18 years of age.

How to apply: 

  • Submit the electronic application, including an essay describing how your efforts in recycling and waste prevention align with the mission of WSRA, and/or how you expect to contribute to this mission in the future.
  • One to Two (one minimum) reference letters from professional/academic references are also required and must be submitted by your reference directly to WSRA. You can find the reference instructions HERE.
